Win A Video Chat with Professional Chef German Lam

German Lam NFCR National Nutrition Month Contest

The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) is excited to share that participants of our National Nutrition Month Recipe Contest have the opportunity to win a video chat with professional Chef and Mentor German Lam as part of the prize package.

This opportunity is exciting for amateur and everyday chefs. Chef Lam can help you develop your skills and specialty and motivate you to own your cooking journey and cook with purpose.

Cancer is Personal; Cooking Should Be Too

Chef Lam has worked in the restaurant industry for decades and has a unique approach to meals and nutrition. He prefers ‘freestyle cooking’ to traditional recipes. For an example, see the Thanksgiving recipe he shared with NFCR readers back in 2018. In it, he encourages you to be creative and think of more than one meal that will excite you and be attainable. Rather than over-extending yourself to cook something outside of your comfort. He believes this method of freestyle cooking gives individuals the tools and resources necessary to build the fuel they need for themselves, rather than restricting them.

As a cancer survivor himself, he knows how important it is to be mindful of your choices when it comes to diet and exercise, but he doesn’t see this as a one-size-fits-all guidebook.

“I was told on October 3, 2017, that I was cancer-free. By sharing my story, I want to create a movement of knowledge and prevention. I want to illuminate the challenges and gaps in the healthcare system.”

Participate in Our National Nutrition Month Contest Today!

NFCR’s National Nutrition Month Contest is going on all March. We, alongside Chef Lam, encourage everyone to submit an original recipe (or freestyle recipe!) for a chance to win several prizes and to inspire others to join them on a healthy living journey and approach to cancer prevention.

Chef Lam’s advice for those interested in participating?

“Be proud of what you have to showcase. Cooking translates into every aspect of our lives – own that!”
