The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) is pleased to be presenting the next Salisbury Award for Entrepreneurial Translational Research Competition, at which first, second and third place finishers will receive prize checks of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.
Thursday, November 14, 2019
5151 Pooks Hill Road
The Salisbury Award Competition is designed for translational cancer research projects that are formally and verifiably associated with promising scientific discoveries described in the application and that are still within universities, research hospitals, cancer centers or other such laboratories. For-profit companies are ineligible to apply. Submissions by principal investigators of projects with viable clinical trial approval prospects and whose intellectual property has not yet been licensed or acquired by parties outside of the applying institution are especially encouraged.
A series of private Salisbury Award Competition presentations by individual faculty or non-faculty investigators or designated team members addressing proprietary cancer therapeutic projects*. PowerPoint or similar presentation formats are required. Presenters are to be on-site well in advance of their predesignated time slot, and abide by the maximum 30-minute time limit, including segue and question and answer periods, which will be strictly enforced per presentation.
Decisions and announcement of the Salisbury Award Competition’s first, second and third place finishers will be made by the panel of judges shortly after the final presentation’s conclusion, and respective $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 prize checks will be conveyed and photographs taken. All presenters are asked to be present at that time.
*The Salisbury Award has been designed primarily to help catalyze and raise the profile of cancer therapeutic candidates, although three additional categories too will be considered: diagnostic, preventive vaccine or research platform technologies.
