Celebrating Collaboration and Community

The National Foundation for Cancer Research knows and profoundly appreciates your belief in science. Your confidence and trust have helped us develop into what we are today: a collaborative community united in our mission to cure cancer. This year’s Annual Report highlights the achievements and momentum that were achieved in 2021. We know this momentum will continue into the future.

Our 2021 Impact:

Progress Arrow

We welcomed a new research team of Drs Bennett and Uyhazi addressing cancer-associated retinopathy (CAR). This condition is devastating because eyesight becomes impaired once healthy retina cells are damaged. So far, there is no way to repair this damage. In collaboration, Drs Bennett and Uyhazi are making progress in identifying ways to restore these cells and bring sight back to impacted cancer patients.

Progress Arrows

NFCR support for Dr. Wei Zhang has enabled his team to apply his genetic technologies to study why some patients with advanced cancer respond to chemotherapy, improving their odds of survival when others do not. This research shows the promise of replacing the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to cancer treatment.

Progress Arrow

We launched a virtual, digital space for the cancer community called the Oncology Metaverse. This platform will serve as an ecosystem where information, insights, and ideas can be shared. Everyone impacted by cancer including patients, families, researchers, and biotech investors is encouraged to join.
