Board Director
Mr. William J. Scandone currently serves as a Director of the Board of the the National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR). Bill has had engagements in the public, private, and government sectors. His experience includes pharmaceuticals, financial services, unions, universities, and government. He began his career negotiating contracts with Steel Workers Unions. He went on to academic positions at LaSalle and Philadelphia Universities. He worked in the public sector with the Pennsylvania State Education Association, responsible for negotiations and arbitration, related to economic issues.
He returned to the private sector with CIGNA, responsible for developing job evaluation and compensation systems. He went on to a pharmaceutical career with SmithKline, responsible for creating global compensation systems. He was responsible for performance management, succession planning, counseling, dispute resolution, and organizational design for the research and development division. He joined the animal health division to build a global communication and compensation and benefit program.
With Pfizer, he was responsible for developing Human Resources policy, and a global compensation and benefits function. He was responsible for the strategy, delivery, and communications of programs including global stock options, surveys, statutory and company provided benefits, outplacement, and relocation. He had been extensively involved in the global movement of expatriates.
He served on merger teams, and was responsible for interpreting purchasing agreements, plan documents and development of comparative analyses in selection, policy integration and vendor consolidation.
After retirement, Bill became involved with local government. He chaired the local Education Fund, was on the executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce, and was on Borough Council for seven years. He is a New Hope Arts Center Board member.
Bill holds a Master of Science in Labor Economics and Statistics, and a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Behavior and Economics from Temple University, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Rider University.
