Mr. Lance Kawaguchi is an internationally recognized executive leader and board member, with over 25 years of global finance and banking experience, including living and working throughout North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East.

Lance has experienced first-hand the impacts of cancer, losing his mother to the disease in 2016. In her memory, he has committed to utilizing his skills and talents to positively impact and drive change in the cancer research sector.

Throughout his career, Lance’s outstanding leadership and innovative approach to diversity and inclusion have seen him recognized by many peak global bodies including the Treasury Management International, prestigious BAME100 Board Talent Index and as one of UPstanding’s 100 leading ethnic minority executives.

As CEO of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Lance has driven net profitability, pivoting to digital offerings to engage communities both in Australia and internationally. Reflecting the community’s courage and urgency to access new treatments, Lance launched the world’s largest brain cancer-dedicated Clinical Accelerator program to support biotechnology companies, researchers, and industry partners to rapidly progress innovative therapeutics into the clinic.

Lance is committed to serve the cancer community, to rapidly drive outcomes and take measures to ensure more treatment options for patients, better quality of life, and ultimately find a cure for this disease.

In 2021, he was appointed as the newest member of the board of the Asian Fund for Cancer Research (AFCR). This appointment will see Lance leverage global research efforts to progress cancer treatments and share his expertise in the Asia-Pacific Region more broadly.
