NFCR Youth Ambassador Program Frequently Asked Questions

The NFCR Youth Ambassador program is an opportunity for top high school students to serve as leaders in raising awareness and support for cutting-edge cancer research.
A Youth Ambassador is a top high school student looking to serve as leaders in raising awareness and support for cutting-edge cancer research. Ambassadors can combine their passion for sports, science, and/or the arts with community service to bring new energy to cancer research fundraising. NFCR Youth Ambassadors learn critical leadership skills, such as how to recruit, raise awareness, and fundraise. Plus, they learn how a national nonprofit organization functions.
Anyone under age 18 who wants to make an impact in the fight against cancer can participate in this program. While NFCR is a U.S. based Nonprofit, international-based students are welcome to participate as well.
All are welcome to work with NFCR as they see fit! We have a group of community ambassadors who are long term partners of all ages who advocate and fundraise on NFCR’s behalf. We also coordinate several fundraising programs that all ages can participate in, such as No Shave November, PlayfortheCure and ArtsfortheCure, DIY Fundraising and more! Yes! Once you declare your intent with NFCR to be a Youth Ambassador, you can start ‘claiming’ the title ‘Junior Youth Ambassador’ on your resume and profiles. However, please note that we have certain expectations of our Youth Ambassadors which include actively participating in their communities to uplift and advance our mission to make cures possible, so your actions should support this expectation. Additionally, we recently developed different ‘levels’ that can be unlocked by active participants in our Youth Ambassador Program. These levels include gifts of thanks, new achievement badges, and different levels of recognition from the organization. Learn more about these levels.
- NFCR expects our Youth Ambassadors, as representatives our organization and to gain recognition as an affiliate, to adhere to the following:
- Bring a positive, professional attitude and commitment to amplifying the mission of NFCR
- For projects that extend beyond one year, Ambassadors should develop a brief progress report at the end of each year
- Openly communicate with the NFCR team about your efforts and accomplishments
- Follow brand guidelines when using NFCR assets such as logos on social media or print content.
- We have 4 levels of Youth Ambassadors:
- Junior Youth Ambassador (Hope Explorer): Sign-up to be a Youth Ambassador, start engaging with NFCR via social media, emails.
- Advocacy Youth Ambassador (Mission Messenger): Fundraising may not be a good fit for everyone. You can still help NFCR advance our mission by helping amplify our messages and raising awareness about cancer and the need for research on your social media channels and at community events.
- Recognized Youth Ambassador (Change Agent): Create your Youth Ambassador Profile and execute your first campaign, whether it is a fundraising event, social media campaign, or other awareness event. Start generating donations or engagement to earn the ‘recognized’ achievement.
- Leading Youth Ambassador (Cure Champion): Leading Youth Ambassadors are the individuals who have successfully executed a fundraising campaign for NFCR and raised more than $5,000. Leading Youth Ambassadors are eligible for more perks, see the full details on our Achievement Page.
Determine what type of ambassador efforts you want to participate in and set a goal. Some people will host fundraisers in their community using their passion in arts, sports, or partnering with local businesses. Some people would like to use social media platforms to generate awareness about NFCR and Cancer in general. All types of ambassadors can help us advance our mission to make cures possible, but each individual should determine what the best approach is for themselves. NFCR can help by providing some guidelines to form your game plan and educational resources to build awareness around.
