Dr. Monica Bertagnolli Named National Cancer Institute Director

Congratulations to 2021 Global Summit Speaker and Panelist Monica Bertagnolli for being named the next Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)! She is the first woman to be named Director of the Institution.

In 2021, Bertagnolli spoke on several panels at the National Foundation for Cancer Research’s Global Summit for Cancer Research and Entrepreneurship. She sat for discussions on Precision Medicine in Cancer and the Fireside Chat on Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership in the Life Sciences. Both sessions are available to re-watch on our Oncology Metaverse.

Dr. Bertagnolli has also served on the AIM-HI Women’s Venture Competition judging committee. This joint initiative between the AIM-HI Accelerator Fund and NFCR helps further women in STEM’s involvement in entrepreneurship and advancing cancer treatment.

Finally, Dr. Bertagnolli has previously worked on the Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress for Cancer Research Selection Committee to help honor pioneering researchers improving cancer patient lives.

NFCR is proud to have partnered with such an influential leader in oncology and wishes her the best in this new role!
