Survivor Stories

This holiday season, your donation helps advance life-saving medicines. Meet Greyson and Hope, whose lives have been transformed thanks to generous supporters like you.

Beating Cancer At Just Three Years Old – Greyson’s Story of Hope

At just three years old, Greyson faced a terrifying diagnosis: a rare spinal tumor. Doctors said they were “just in time.”

Thanks to NFCR-supported research, Greyson’s tumor underwent whole genome sequencing, which revealed the ALK mutation and guided a successful treatment plan of surgery—sparing him chemotherapy or radiation.

Greyson is alive today because of the visionary work of researchers like Dr. Daniel Von Hoff, long-term supported by NFCR donors. His story is one of hope and a testament that funding basic cancer research makes cures possible for children like Greyson.

Hope Stewart’s Story: Research Makes the Difference

In 2022, Hope Stewart was diagnosed with Stage 2B HER2+ Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Shocked and terrified, she found courage knowing that people were dedicating their lives to saving hers through cancer research.

She was lucky: HER2+ cancer is now highly treatable, but it wasn’t always this way. Thanks to incredible medical breakthroughs and the targeted treatments developed through funded research, Hope was able to survive.

Hope’s journey shows us that cancer research works.
