The Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research, sponsored by the National Foundation for Cancer Research located in Bethesda, MD, USA, is awarded annually to researchers who have made a seminal discovery that has resulted in, or led toward, high impacts and/or clinical benefits that can save people's lives.
The co-winners of the 7th Annual Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research, Dr. Zhen-Yi Wang and Dr. Zhu Chen, were awarded on Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 at the 7th Annual Szent-Györgyi Prize Dinner & Award Ceremony at the Westin New York Times Square, in conjunction with the 23rd Cancer Progress Conference.

2012 Prize Winners

Dr. Zhen-Yi Wang, M.D., Professor at the Medical School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zhu Chen, M.D., Ph.D., Minister of Health for the Peoples Republic of China and Professor at the School of Medicine of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, jointly won the 7th Szent-Györgyi Prize for their innovative research that led to the successful development of a new therapeutic approach to acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL).
