Screensaver-Lifesaver Project

The NFCR Screensaver-Lifesaver Project was an enormous endeavor that used the idle time of over 3.5 million personal computers linked through the Internet to computationally screen a large database of molecular structures for potential anti-cancer compounds. This public initiative identified tens of thousands of lead compounds as potential new anti-cancer drug candidates.

The project was a tremendous success and we would like to thank the 3.5 million people from over 200 countries around the world that have worked together to create the world's largest supercomputer and commit their resources to this ground-breaking research effort.
